SpotterGuides.com and Le Mans

I originally announced this after last year’s Le Mans, but I have received a large number of emails and messages in recent days, so time to re-confirm.

After fourteen editions, there will not be a SpotterGuides.com Le Mans guide for 2021. As with most things in life, more than one reason for this.

While a good number of teams actively support the guide, a number of others are not supportive(as is their right), which increases the research, (in)accuracy and creation of the guides massively.

Emails and messages flow back from donwloaders,  asking why the free guide is not accurate etc, or bringing to light errors on other guides available! Neither is in my control, but an inaccurate guide is as useful as a chocolate teapot!

The arrival of the Official guide (to clarify, I have no issue, it is entirely their right)  and the increasing challenges of obtaining a sponsor in recent years despite 100,000-120,000 unique downloads has made production of the guides a challenging and unenjoyable project in recent years which takes me away from my my line of work

The #LM24 guides have been an amazing success with upwards of 120,000 downloads at its peak. A huge thank you to YOU once again for your support, downloads and additional exposure. I also wanted to say a huge thank you to the other sponsors who have been partners over that time including AERO Paint,  Dunlop and Nissan.

Also, a big shout out to all the media sites who have promoted the guide over the years. A long list, but Dailysportscar, Radio Le Mans, Marshall Pruett and Sportscar365 have always assisted and more recently r/WEC have been banging the drum massively.

IMSA guides WILL continue thanks to the supprt of the series and all, yes all, the teams. They have been awesome. I am looking to expand into other series in 2022 as we hopefully get back to some normality, but the guides are very time consuming to produce.

In the meantime, Mateusz Grosiak has produced an alternative guide for 2021, using some of my car line art to get him up and running. You can download his LM guide here…. https://spotters.guide

Many thanks for your support, past, present and future

SpotterGuides in 2016

Happy New Year!
A quick post to bring you up to speed on SpotterGuides.com plans in the first couple of months of the new year.

Towards the end of January, the official IMSA Spotter Guide returns. Available as an online three page guide or as part of IMSA’s raceday viewing guide, available at the circuit, it will feature all the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge entries for the Rolex24.

The online guide is due to be released on 25 January and will be update during race week and will be the first look for a large number of liveries, including one team which will have a cover on their car, literally until Wednesday afternoon.

The printed guide will be available at the IMSA Fan zone inside Daytona International Speedway from Thursday of race week.

Thanks to IMSA once again for partnering with Andy Blackmore Design and almost every IMSA team for assisting.

Once the guide is out the way (plenty of liveries to work through as well – see Andy Blackmore Design for more info), I will be turning my attention to the 2016 Racing Wall Planner which will be released during February.

As before this will be available online, or, if you prefer a larger professional quality will also be available.

Sponsorship is unconfirmed for the ELMS, WEC or Le Mans guides. If your company is interested in getting their brands in the hands of die-hard race fans, contact me and I’ll forward you the Partnership Deck.

Thanks again to IMSA.

2015 Official IMSA Oak Tree GP Spotter Guide now available

The Official Spotter Guide for the IMSA sanctioned event at Virginia International Raceway is now available on our dedicated PAGE or from the event section of IMSA.com.

The guide features the GT classes of TUDOR United Sports Car Championship and leading forty entries in the Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge.

The online guide will be updated through each race week with driver and team changes and any significant livery changes.

Thank you!

Thanks to everyone who downloaded, shared, liked or tweeted the NISMO ‪‎LeMans‬ Spotter Guide.

Easily our most successful download with over 100,000 downloads plus whatever Nissan achieved via their press release. There is normally a small burst after the race (assume people downloading new ‘clean’ copies). In 2014 we had about 15k post race to the end of December!

Thanks to NISMO for their support and partnership of the Le Mans, WEC and ELMS guides. Without their support, there simply ould be no guides.

If you liked the guides, please consider following NISMO on Twitter or visit their new site, NissanLMP1.com

2015 IMSA Spotter Guides!

I am excited to announce I will be working with IMSA again in 2015 creating the art for the official IMSA Spotter Guides.

Starting with the Rolex 24, IMSA will print a ‘Race Viewing Guide’ booklet available at the circuit as per 2014.

Online, we will be reverting back to the traditional 11×17 Poster Style Guide for you to download which should make things easier! The online guide will be released on 19th or 20th January and will be updated during the week as new drivers are announced.
